It was a 24-hour news channel in Telugu regional language. Following its success in Andhra Pradesh, TV9 expanded its network. Over the years, a few more affiliates to TV9 in different regional languages like Kannada, Marathi, and Gujarati have been set up. From then onwards, TV9 is referred to as TV9 Telugu (Telugu: టీవీ9). All these channels are broadcast from ABCL's head office in Hyderabad, Telangana, India.

ABCL is involved with filmed entertainment, cable network programming, internet services, operating direct broadcast satellite television, and providing content for television in India, the US and Africa. In the US it is associated with Dish Network. In Africa it is the Simba Television network.

In 2004, TV9 ran a series of programs about residents in Nalgonda and Mahabubnagar districts, who are suffering from fluorosis because of high fluoride in their groundwater.
