Bdeogale is a genus of three species of mongoose native to the rainforests of central Africa and western Africa. They are primarily terrestrial and insectivorous.
The Sokoke bushy-tailed mongoose, Bdeogale omnivora, is sometimes treated as a subspecies of B. crassicauda, but is treated as a separate species by the IUCN.
The IUCN Red List lists B. jacksoni as vulnerable, and B. crassicauda as endangered, due largely to habitat loss and fragmentation.
