Grafton was founded in 1874. It was likely named after the town of Grafton, Massachusetts.

As of the census of 2010, there were 126 people, 62 households, and 35 families residing in the village. The population density was 360.0 inhabitants per square mile (139.0/km2). There were 75 housing units at an average density of 214.3 per square mile (82.7/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 99.2% White and 0.8% African American.
