2017 Liga 1

Liga 1 (English: League One), formerly known as the Indonesian Super League, is the highest professional level competition for football clubs in Indonesia. In January 2017, PSSI announced that ISL will be renamed as Liga 1.

It was once replaced with the rival Indonesian Premier League as the top level competition from 2011 to 2013, after which the ISL would once again emerge as the top level competition following the disbandment of the IPL. It is currently sponsored by Qatar National Bank from 2015 until 2017, thus officially known as the QNB League.

In 2017 it was renamed as Liga 1.

Before 2008 the highest level of professional football competition in Indonesia was the Premier Division. It used the combination format of double round-robin first round and single eliminations second round.

Restricting the number of foreign players strictly to three per team, including a slot for a player from AFC countries. A team could use three foreign players on the field each game including a least one player from the AFC confederation.
