The Melbourne Stars is an Australian Twenty20 cricket team based in Melbourne, Victoria that competes in Australia's Twenty20 competition, the Big Bash League. The Stars wear a green uniform and play their home matches at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the largest cricket stadium in the world.
They are currently captained by Australian David Hussey and coached by former New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming.
Starman & Starlet are the official mascots of the Melbourne Stars. In BBL|05 the Stars introduced a secondary mascot Steven Seagull after a seagull was struck with a cricket ball hit by Adam Voges during a Melbourne Stars and Perth Scorchers match in BBL|04 while the Stars were fielding.
Melbourne Stars are sponsored by Optus, and National Storage in BBL06.
