Menard County is a county located on the Edwards Plateau in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, its population was 2,242. Its seat is Menard. The county was created in 1858 and later organized in 1871. It is named for Michel Branamour Menard, the founder of Galveston, Texas.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 902 square miles (2,340 km2), of which 902 square miles (2,340 km2) is land and 0.2 square miles (0.52 km2) (0.03%) is water.

As of the census of 2000, there were 2,360 people, 990 households, and 665 families residing in the county. The population density was 3 people per square mile (1/km²). There were 1,607 housing units at an average density of 2 per square mile (1/km²). The racial makeup of the county was 87.54% White, 0.51% Black or African American, 0.64% Native American, 0.34% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 9.79% from other races, and 1.14% from two or more races. 31.69% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
