Puthenvelikkara (Puthenvelikkara)is a village in Paravur Taluk, Ernakulam district in the Indian state of Kerala. Puthenvelikkara is on the banks of rivers Periyar, Chalakudy and Kottapuram lagoon. It has been a centre of agricultural production with paddy fields.

The bridge will help people in Puthenvelikkara to reach Ernakulam, Aluva and Paravur to reach Chalakudy and Mala. Currently, they have to travel through Manjaly to go to these places. Though there are bridges in Puthenvelikkara, which is an island, the upcoming bridge will be the major one connecting people with the mainland.
Puthenvelikkara is situated in Ernakulam District of Central Kerala in India.The village is 43.8 km North of Kochi and 21 km west of Cochin International Airport. Territory of Puthenvelikkara covers an area of 19.87 km2. Puthenvelikkara share its borders with Poyya and Methala villages in North, Karumalloor and Kunnukara villages in South, Prakkadavu, Kunnukara and Kuzhur villages in East, and Chendamangalam, Vadakkekara and Methala villages in West. The ancient belief is that, the formation of village is a result of high-tide (Veliyettam in Malayalam) and this belief is proven by the existence of fossils of aquatic beings found in the village.
Puthenvelikkara is surrounded by water: rivers and lagoon. It resulted in the formation of fertile lands suited for cultivation. The main source of income for people comes from agriculture. The provinces or wards such as Kurisingal, Kurumba thuruth, Thuruthipuram, Thuruthur, Panjipalla, Manancheri Kunnu, Karottukara, Vattekattu Kunnu, Keezhuppadam, Kodikuthiya Kunnu, Elanthikara, Kanakkankadav, Cherukadappuram, Thelathuruth, Kozhithuruth, Chowkakadav, Malavana, Stationkadav and some small islands, together form the village of Puthenvelikkara. Puthenvelikkara was fame in Paravur for its numerous Kunnu\Hills, but today they are destroyed for productive purposes in Paravur.
