Sheffield College


Coordinates: 53°22′55″N 1°27′50″W / 53.382°N 1.464°W / 53.382; -1.464 The Sheffield College is a further education (FE) college in Sheffield, England. It was formed by the merger of six FE colleges in 1993. Its campuses are City campus (in the city centre, formerly Castle College), Hillsborough campus (which replaced Loxley College in Stannington, and Parson Cross College in 2005), Olive Grove campus and Peaks campus in Mosborough. The current Chief Executive is Paul Corcoran.

In summer 2015 the Norton campus closed down with many of the courses relocated to a new purpose facility at its Hillsborough campus. The college is one of the sponsors of UTC Sheffield, a university technical college which opened in September 2013, focusing on Manufacturing and Creative/Digital. A second UTC, located on the old Don Valley Stadium, forming part of the Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, opened in 2016, focusing on Human Sciences and Computing.

In 2010, Sheffield City College underwent a £60 million rebuild programme to create an environmentally-friendly, single-site campus. The site provides many vocational subjects including, hair and beauty, catering, business and construction. In August 2017, the campus was temporarily evacuated and closed due to a faulty fire alarm system.

Located in the north of the city Hillsborough has a particular focus on sport, horticulture, A Level provision and higher education courses. The campus offers a range of provision for Foundation learners including Vocational Pathways and Personal Progress courses. Hillsborough is also home to the Centre for Creative Industries featuring a new digital, media, graphic design, journalism, music, performing arts facilities and courses. The facilities consist of television, photography, radio, music and performing arts studios.
