Burger Time

imageBTND, LLC

Burger Time is a regional chain of drive-through fast food restaurants that is headquartered in West Fargo, North Dakota. Its original restaurant was founded in Fargo, North Dakota, in 1987 and currently has eight locations in North Dakota, Minnesota, and South Dakota.

Burger Time's first location opened in Fargo, North Dakota, in August 1987, and it quickly opened more locations upon its initial success. The company was initially privately owned. Doug Geeslin, a Fargo-based investor, purchased the company from its founder. In 2004 Sterion, a medical devices company later renamed Sten Corporation, purchased Burger Time from Geeslin. Sten was controlled by Gary Copperud, president of CMM Properties, and CEO Kenneth Brimmer, a former president of Rainforest Cafe. On April 29, 2007, Sten sold Burger Time to BTND LLC, a Colorado limited liability company owned by Copperud and Jeffrey A. Zinnecker and accepted all liabilities. The duo resigned from Sten's board of directors.

Burger Time primarily operates outdoor restaurants which offer only drive-through or walk up service. Most restaurants offer two drive through lanes (one on each side, so the left side is typically used by vehicles with someone sitting in the front seat). There is typically an outdoor seating area available as well as extra parking for customers who wish to eat in their vehicles.

Burger Time offers hamburgers, french fries, soft drinks, and other typical fast food fare, sold in combinations or a la carte. Their signature item is the "Bigger Burger", a 1/3 pound flame broiled burger. Burger Time also offers barbecue pulled pork and chicken sandwiches as well as apple pie. The "Bigger Burger" combo accounts for 80% of a typical location's sales.

BurritoVille

BurritoVille is a New York City-based quick-service food chain serving Tex-Mex cuisine, established in 1992. Until 2008, there were 16 locations in Manhattan, one in Westbury, New York on Long Island, and one in Hoboken, NJ. The menu items consist mostly of various types of burritos and tacos, as well as salads and nachos. Many of the items are vegetarian.

The chain's slogan is, "We're Mexcellent!" Interior decor consists of antique maps of Mexico and classic sensational horror and romance Mexican cinema posters.

In September 2008, Burritoville closed all its Manhattan locations as a result of filing for reorganization under the bankruptcy laws. However, the Westbury location remained open for business. In November 2008, one of the former owners of Blimpie purchased BurritoVille and directed a complete makeover of the chain. The Financial District location (36 Water Street), which re-opened in July 2009, was the first of several planned locations in New York City and throughout the country. The 23rd Street location reopened in the fall of 2009.

In 2011, Burritoville's website listed only its 23rd Street restaurant in Manhattan as an active location. As of late 2014, the website listed only a single restaurant located in Jersey City, New Jersey.

Chick-fil-A

imageChick-fil-A, Inc.

Chick-fil-A (CHIK-fil-AY, a play on the ) is an American fast food restaurant chain headquartered in the Atlanta suburb of College Park, Georgia, specializing in chicken sandwiches. Founded in May 1946, it has more than 2,000 restaurants, mainly in most U.S. states [AK, HI, NV (will open in Henderson in February 2017), ND, and VT have yet to have one].

The company's culture is influenced by its founder Truett Cathy's Southern Baptist beliefs; all Chick-fil-A restaurants are closed for business on Sunday as well as Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The chain's origin can be traced to the Dwarf Grill (now the Dwarf House), a restaurant opened by S. Truett Cathy, the chain's former Chairman and CEO, in 1946. The restaurant is located in Hapeville, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta, and is near the location of the now-demolished Ford Motor Company Atlanta Assembly Plant, for many years a source of many of the restaurant's patrons.

In 1961, after 15 years in the fast food business, Cathy found a pressure-fryer that could cook the chicken sandwich in the same amount of time it took to cook a fast-food hamburger. Following this discovery, he registered the name Chick-fil-A, Inc. The company's trademarked slogan, "We Didn't Invent the Chicken, Just the Chicken Sandwich," refers to their flagship menu item, the Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich.

The first Chick-fil-A opened in 1967, in the food court of the Greenbriar Mall, in a suburb of Atlanta. During the 1970s and early 1980s, the chain expanded by opening new franchises in suburban malls' food courts. The first freestanding franchise was opened April 16, 1986, on North Druid Hills Road in Atlanta, Georgia, and the company began to focus more on this type of franchise than on the food court type. Although it has expanded outward from its original geographic base, most new restaurants are located in Southern suburban areas. In October 2015, the company opened a three-story 5,000-square-foot restaurant in Manhattan that became the largest free-standing Chick-fil-A in the country at that time. As of 2016, the chain has approximately 1,950 locations. It also has 31 drive-through-only locations. Chick-fil-A also can be found at universities, hospitals, and airports through licensing agreements.
