Abu Nawas


Abu Nawas is a chain of fast food restaurants in Saudi Arabia that primarily sells broasted chicken and fish with a variety of sauces. The first branch opened in Prince al Mansour Street in Dammam in the 1980s, and the company later expanded to Khobar and eventually Jeddah. The company currently has four outlets in Dammam, along with one each in Khobar and Jeddah.

The restaurant is named after the classical Arabic poet Abu Nuwas.

Albaik (Arabic: البيك‎‎, meaning Bey, and stylized as ALBAIK) is a major fast food restaurant chain in Saudi Arabia that primarily sells broasted chicken and shrimp with a variety of sauces. It is one of the major consumers of chicken in Saudi Arabia. The chain has more than 40 branches in Jeddah where it is headquartered: eight in Mecca, three in Medina, one in Taif, one in Yanbu, and one in Al Qunfudhah. Recently, Albaik started expanding further into the central region of Saudi Arabia with two branches opened in Buraidah, and further branches planned for the city, in addition to other main cities in the region. This marked the first time the chain has expanded outside of its main service area in Saudi Arabia's western provinces.

Al Tazaj is a BBQ chicken Arabic fast casual restaurant chain headquartered in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, but has since expanded to many countries in the Middle East.

The first Al Tazaj restaurant opened in Mecca in 1989. Founded by Abdul Rahman Fakieh, owner of Fakieh Poultry Farm, it took live poultry from that business. The restaurant uses a traditional Arabian recipe for barbecued fresh chicken.

Al Tazaj currently serves its fresh barbecued chicken in more than 100 locations in Saudi Arabia, making it the first national fast food chain in the Middle East. It is now franchised in other countries.

The chain serves limited meals including, rice and kofta (elongated meatballs), kofta sandwiches, whole chickens with rice, fries, chicken wings, and a few local meals depending on the country. Their speciality is wood charcoal-grilled chicken which is butterflied and marinated in garlic and lime sauce. Half or whole chicken is served with freshly baked pita bread, rice or corn on the cob. Chicken versions of Saudi meals are also served in Saudi Arabia, including Chicken Mandi and Chicken Kabsa.

There are numerous locations mainly in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates but there are also locations in Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Qatar and Malaysia.

Herfy (Arabic: هرفي‎‎) is a major fast food restaurant chain in Saudi Arabia and one of the largest in the Middle East, surpassing international chains in terms of presence. It has a total of more than 212 restaurants and 4,000 employees throughout Saudi Arabia. It also has many subsidiaries including Herfy Bakery and a soon to be built meat processing plant. It has been an entirely Saudi-owned company since its inception.

Herfy was founded by Ahmed Al-Said in 1981. In 1994, Panda United was acquired by Prince Waleed bin Talal's Kingdom Holding Company. Consequently, Panda's 70% stake in Herfy was transferred to Kingdom, bolstered by the new large budget provided by Kingdom.

In 1998, AlAzizia Panda United (Panda's new name) was acquired by The Savola Group, headed by Adel Al-Fakeh, and Herfy became part of the group. Herfy's growth again grew as the number of Herfy chains doubled.

Herfy recently opened its first overseas branch in Bahrain in cooperation with local partner Al Meer Trading. Franchise agreements in the U.A.E. and Kuwait have been concluded and more franchise requests have been received.

Herfy will to open its first branch outside the Middle East in Bangladesh in November 2017, where they are supposed to open 30 outlets within "a few years". The first branch will open in Gulshan, Dhaka .

To cope with the added overseas branches, Herfy is planning to open its own SR13 million meat and chicken processing plant in a similar way to Herfy Bakery.

The first branch opened in Riyadh on 16 April 1988 on 30th street. Kudu serves burgers and sandwiches, which are popular with Saudis, but its specialty is sandwiches.
