Dogfish Head Craft Brewery

Dogfish Head Brewery is a brewing company based in Milton, Delaware founded by Sam Calagione. It opened in 1995 and produces 175,000 barrels of beer annually. Dogfish Head has been a rapidly growing brewery – it grew nearly 400% between 2003 and 2006. The brewery was featured prominently in the documentary Beer Wars and was the subject of the Discovery Channel series Brew Masters, which premiered Sunday, November 21, 2010. The brewery takes its name from Dogfish Head, Maine where Calagione spent summers as a child.

Select brews (including many of the brewery's seasonal and one-off selections) can be found in 31 U.S. states, plus Washington, D.C. Dogfish Head also licenses "Dogfish Head Alehouse" with three locations in Gaithersburg, Maryland, Falls Church, Virginia, and Fairfax, Virginia. Beer-paired food and vintage bottles of Dogfish Head's seasonal beers are available at their alehouses, as well as kegged offerings of their staple beers.

Dogfish Head often collaborates with other businesses outside of the beer industry. Dogfish Head has worked with the Grateful Dead to create a strong pale ale called American Beauty, a pickle company in Brooklyn, NY called Brooklyn Brine to create a pickle with beer ingredients, and an old glass company in Europe to design a unique IPA glass. In addition, Dogfish Head has worked with many other businesses outside of the beer industry. Calagione believes the collaboration with businesses like these distinguishes the Dogfish Head brand.

Dogfish Head tends to produce experimental or "extreme" beers, such as the tongue-in-cheek "Liquor de Malt", a bottle-conditioned malt liquor, which typically comes in a Dogfish Head brown paper bag. Dogfish Head products often use non-standard ingredients, such as green raisins in the "". Some beers, including the WorldWide Stout, 120 Minute India Pale Ale, and the raspberry-flavored strong ale Fort, are highly alcoholic, reaching 18% to 20% alcohol by volume (typical beers have around 3% to 7% alcohol by volume).

Drewrys

Drewrys Extra Dry was a brand of Canadian beer established in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in 1877, and brewed for much of its history in South Bend, Indiana.

Besides its Canadian connection (sometimes sporting a picture of a Mountie on cans or labels), the main Drewrys claims to fame were that the beer was "more flavor; less filling; more fun!", years before the popularity of light beers, and also (with the advent of lighter aluminum cans) that a can of Drewrys would float in water, rather than sinking to the bottom of a bucket or tub.

Other themes employed on Drewrys cans included sports scenes, and also zodiac graphics and trivia.

The South Bend-based brewery was merged with Associated Brew Co. in 1963, making the Associated/Drewry's plants one of the largest breweries in the U.S. The plant was sold to G. Heileman Brewing Company of La Crosse, Wisconsin, in 1972. Heileman eventually chose to close the plant. The last cases of beer left the South Bend plant in November 1972. The Muessel-Drewry Brewery at South Bend was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. Heileman owned the brand until it was sold to the Evansville Brewing Co. of Evansville, Indiana. This plant was closed in 1997 and the brand was bought along with others by Pittsburgh Brewing Company, though it was never manufactured.

The Old Drewry's Brewery

Though Drewrys labelled beer last produced in 1997, Drewrys was purchased in 2011 by Chicago-based entrepreneur, Francis Manzo. The city of South Bend will be the site of launch for the rebranded beer as this was the location for Drewrys largest operation. Production is slated for 2013.

Drewrys originated in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, where it was known as Drewry’s Lake of the Woods Brewery. Edward Lancaster (E.L.) Drewry travelled to Winnipeg in 1875 by canoe via the Red River, commencing his journey from St. Paul, Minnesota. Two years later Drewry relocated his family from St. Paul to the Forks of the Red and Assiniboine where he purchased Redwood Brewery. He immediately began expanding the facility, where the production capacity was quickly increased from 4,000 bushels malt per month to 10,000 bushels malt.

Elysian Brewing Company

imageElysian Brewing Company

The Elysian Brewing Company is an American brewery that operates four pubs in Seattle. On January 23, 2015, it was announced that Elysian would be sold to Anheuser-Busch in a deal expected to close within three months. This deal means that Elysian Brewing Company will no longer meet the Brewers Association definition of a "craft brewery", since full ownership by Anheuser-Busch exceeds the definition's 25% maximum ownership by a non-craft brewery

Elysian was founded in 1995 by Dave Buhler, Joe Bisacca, and Dick Cantwell. Cantwell had been a homebrewer who gained a reputation at the Duwamps Cafe, the Pike Place Brewery, and Big Time Brewing. Buhler is a former spirits wholesaler and Bisacca was a vice president at Seafirst Bank. The original location was opened in 1996 in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. Its capacity is 20 barrels.

The company operated a brewpub at the local GameWorks arcade between 1997 and 2002. In 2003, their pub and bistro, Tangletown, was opened near Green Lake. The largest location, Elysian Fields, was opened in 2006. It is a brewpub near CenturyLink Field that is often busy on gameday.

In 2011, Elysian expanded its operations with a 35,000-square-foot (3,300 m2) production-only facility in the Georgetown neighborhood.

Seasonal beers include:

Elysian Brewing Company brews many beers, which are only available at their brewpub and restaurant or are sometimes seasonally available on tap in some Seattle pubs. A short list of these includes The Golden Boot, brewed in honor of Seattle soccer. Haleakala named after Maui’s easterly volcano. Hombre, a Mexican-style lager, brewed as a house beer for a local Mexican restaurant. Xoxo is a nitrogen-infused, chocolate, chilli-spiced Irish-style stout often brewed around Valentine’s Day.

Foolproof Brewing Company

Foolproof Brewing Company (formerly High Jinx Brewing Company) is a brewery based in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.

High Jinx Brewing Company was founded in 2012 by Nick Garrison, a former homebrewer from Massachusetts. Shortly after starting operations and before initial sales to the public, it was renamed Foolproof to avoid trademark conflicts with Magic Hat's beer brand, Jinx or Pennsylvania's HiJinx. It brewed its first batch in December 2013 and began in-state sales in January 2013. By the end of 2013 it had doubled its production capacity and expanded distribution to neighboring Massachusetts and Connecticut.

Foolproof produces limited production seasonal and specialty beers and four year-round beers: Barstool, a golden ale; Raincloud, a porter; La Ferme Urbaine, a farmhouse ale; Backyahd, an IPA which draws its name from the Eastern New England pronunciation of "backyard." The company markets its beers by naming them after "experiences," or common beer-drinking contexts, for which each is intended. Unusual for a small brewery, Foolproof releases most of its beer, and in particular its core year-round brands, in cans, and promotes the use of cans for better flavor. Foolproof's brewmaster, Damase Olsson, is a former chemist and brewer at Nashoba Valley Winery and now-defunct Pennichuck Brewery.

In January 2014 the brewery released a line of beer-based soaps in collaboration with Newport-based soapmaker Spindrift.

Fremont Brewing

imageFremont Brewing

Coordinates: 47°39′21″N 122°20′43″W / 47.6557365°N 122.3451908°W / 47.6557365; -122.3451908

Fremont Brewery is a brewery located in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle, Washington, in the United States. The brewery is family-owned and creates small-batch artisan beers. Their beers have quickly become some of the best selling in the area. Originally consisting of only a few tables in the brewery, the tasting room has expanded into a large part of the building and an outdoor seating area. An expanded brewing facility will open in neighboring Ballard to meet demand. The increase to 250,000 barrels a year would put it among the top producing craft breweries in the United States.

Brewers often use barley and other ingredients from Washington. Most hops are sourced from Yakima Valley and water comes from the Cedar River watershed in the Cascade Mountains.

Popular brews include Universale Pale Ale, Interurban IPA, and Abominable Winter Ale. The Bourbon Abominable Winter Ale won a bronze at the 2012 World Beer Cup. In 2014, the Summer Ale and Bourbon Barrel Aged Dark Star Ale both won silvers at the Great American Beer Festival.

Game Day Beer

City Brewing Company is a large brewery located in La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA. It also goes by the trade name of City Brewery.

In 1999 the old G. Heileman Brewing Company's former brewery buildings in La Crosse were bought by a group of investors who founded the City Brewing Company.

In September 2006, the company agreed to purchase the Latrobe Brewery in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. The new City Brewery Latrobe entered into an agreement with Boston Beer Company in April 2007, and began producing that company's Samuel Adams beer that spring.

National distribution is occurring in support of new brands DB Hobbs Lager and DB Hobbs Light, at 4.81% abv and 4.15% abv respectively, which some publications indicate may be relabeled versions of the LaCrosse Lager line.

City Brewery is also the name of another Wisconsin company founded by Johann Braun in 1846 which merged into the Valentin Blatz Brewing Company of Milwaukee.

City Brewery is also the name of a brewing company founded in 1855 in Dunkirk by George Dotterweich, an immigrant from Germany. George Dotterweich died in 1884 and the brewery was taken over by his brother, Andrew J. Dotterweich. In 1900, Andrew J. died and the brewery was taken over by his son Andrew C. Dotterweich. The company name was then changed to the A. Dotterweich Brewing Company, and operations continued until the start of the prohibition.

As Anheuser-Busch moved production of Rolling Rock to New Jersey in 2006, an owner was sought for the original Latrobe Brewing Company in Pennsylvania. City Brewery completed the purchase and in March 2007, the Latrobe brewery reopened its doors and produced Samuel Adams. The Boston Beer Company signed a deal with the plant's current owners in April 2007, to produce beer in the plant. The Boston Beer Company had pledged 3 to 7 million dollars to upgrade the plant. It is estimated that 200,000 to 250,000 barrels of beer would be produced in the plant during the remainder of 2007.

From 2000 to 2009, the company was known as the High Falls Brewing Company. In 2009, High Falls was acquired by the capital investment firm KPS Capital. Together with also newly acquired Labatt USA, KPS merged the two companies as North American Breweries. Along with this change, High Falls Brewery changed its name back to the original "Genesee Brewing Company" operating under the North American Breweries name. In October 2012, North American Breweries was purchased by FIFCO

According to 2012 figures, North American Breweries was the sixth-largest brewing company in America by sales volume.

The Aqueduct Spring Brewery, the first brewery located in Rochester, New York, opened in 1819 and closed in 1844. In 1857, Rau & Reisky Brewery, later changed to Reisky & Spies, was established. In December 1984, it purchased the Fred Koch Brewery of Dunkirk, New York. At the time The Fred Koch Brewery was owned by Vaux Breweries of Sunderland, England. In the previous year Koch sold about 55,000 barrels of beer, compared with Genesee's 3.2 million. Genesee transferred the brewing of Koch's brands to Rochester which it continued through the 2000s.

In 2000, the company was sold to an employee investment group, and the company's name was changed to High Falls Brewing Company. In 2007, Norman Snyder was named CEO of the company, and announced a change in the Genesee brand labeling, which highlights a more classic look.
