The Buzz Energy brands also traded in the United Kingdom as Bulldog Buzz, and in 2008 was selected as the official energy drink of the Batley Bulldogs team selected.

At its peak in 2008 Beaver Buzz Energy was grossing more than $600,000 per month in sales across Canada and in the United Kingdom, Although the retail listing base has been reduced the brand has retained a loyal consumer base, particularly in Western Canada.

DD (Double D) Beverage Company was founded by Andrew Drayson and Richard DeBanks, who subsequently went on to also create a line of Sports Nutrition Drinks called GOOD4U Drinks, owned and operated by GOOD4U Drinks Co. As of August 2011 GOOD4U Drinks had also grossed more than $1,000,000 in revenue making Richard DeBanks and Andrew Drayson part of a very select group of entrepreneurs that have managed to create 2 consecutive multi million dollar companies from scratch and without the aid of venture capital or private equity. DeBanks left Double D Beverage in 2014 to start Athletic Alliance Sport Supplements.

Blow (drink)

Blow is a controversial energy drink notable for its use of drug culture in its marketing, such as the name of the drink itself, which is a slang term for cocaine. Rather than being sold in liquid form, it was distributed as vials of white powder similar in appearance to cocaine, which were to be mixed with water or any other beverage, and can be bought in large Styrofoam containers made to resemble cocaine bricks. Additional packages on the drink's website were referred to by names such as "The Recreational User Pack" or "The Fiender's Hook-Up" for various quantities. Cases on the website also included free stickers, tattoos, or shirts sporting the brand's logo. The powder has also been distributed along with a mirror and imitation credit card to simulate the "cutting" of cocaine.

Blow's producers have come under fire from parents and other concerned parties, who allege that its marketing targets adolescents and glorifies illegal drug abuse, citing the use of rock music and women in seductive poses on the drink's website, as well as the inclusion of a Myspace link.

On January 31, 2008, the Food and Drug Administration sent a Warning Letter to Blow. According to the FDA, Blow is a drug under 21 U.S.C. §321(g)(l) of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act and violates the Act because it was not approved by the FDA.

Caffeinated alcoholic drink

A caffeinated alcoholic drink, or caffeinated alcoholic beverage, is a drink that contains both alcohol and caffeine. They often include the ingredients of energy drinks as well. In 2010 and 2011, this type of beverage faced criticism for posing health risks to their drinkers. In some places there is a ban on caffeinated alcoholic beverages.

Energy drinks are beverages that contain high doses of caffeine and an assortment of ingredients, such as,

The counteracting effects of caffeine and alcohol often causes the consumer to drink more than they normally would because of the delayed "drunk" feeling, as caffeine can mask some of the sensory cues individuals might normally rely on to determine their level of intoxication. The consumption of this beverage and the delayed intoxication impairment could lead to negative consequences such as the increased stimulation and intoxication levels while decreasing the ability to operate a motor vehicle.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has looked at peer-reviewed studies and has come to the conclusion that risky behaviors which could lead to life-threatening situations are directly correlated with the consumption of caffeinated alcoholic beverages.

Universities have conducted studies to compare the outcomes of the consumption of regular alcoholic drinks and of caffeinated alcoholic drinks. The University of Florida surveyed 802 college students who had mixed alcohol and caffeine, and found they were three times more likely to leave a bar highly intoxicated and four times more likely to want to drink and drive than drinkers who did not consume alcoholic energy drinks. Another study surveyed 697 students from Wake Forest University and found that the students who had consumed caffeinated alcoholic beverages were more likely to drink and drive, take advantage of someone sexually, or end up needing medical treatment. From this perspective, it is inferred that caffeinated alcoholic drinks cause one to act in ways that would be less likely if one were drinking non-caffeinated alcoholic drinks.

The adverse effects of caffeinated alcoholic drinks have led to increased regulation. Under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, a substance intentionally added to food (such as caffeine in alcoholic beverages) is deemed “unsafe” and is unlawful unless its particular use has been approved by FDA (Food and Drug Administration) regulation. The substance is subject to a prior sanction until the substance is Generally Regarded As Safe (GRAS). In order for a substance to be characterized as GRAS, there must be sufficient evidence to prove its safety; this evidence should be generally known and accepted by qualified professionals. The FDA did not approve the use of caffeine in alcoholic drinks, and thus the drinks cannot be legally marketed. As a result, the FDA sent letters to four manufacturers of caffeinated alcoholic beverages (Phusion Projects, Charge Beverages Corporation, New Century Brewing Company, and United Brands Company, Inc.) to alert them that the agency would be considering whether caffeine can lawfully be added to alcoholic beverages. These letters also gave the manufacturers fifteen days to stop the addition of caffeine to the alcoholic drinks or to stop selling the drinks altogether.

Coca Colla

Coca Colla is an energy drink produced in Bolivia with the use of coca extract as its base. It was launched on the Bolivian market in La Paz, Santa Cruz and Cochabamba in mid-April 2010. Both the name and ingredients are similar to Coca-Cola. The release of this product is part of the process of the industrialization of coca followed by the Morales Administration. The "Colla" component of the name comes from Qullasuyu, the southern area of the Inca empire which included the western part of Bolivia. The term Qulla is nowadays used to name the Aymara and Quechua, indigenous people of Bolivia which make a traditional use of coca leaves.

The drink has a red label with white writing, is dark caramel in color, tastes sweet and comes in 500 ml bottles priced at $1.50 (around £1 GBP or €1 EUR). It is made from coca leaf extracts, a plant also known for its use as the base of cocaine powder. This is a restricted substance in many countries and illegal to sell, buy or distribute in North America and Europe.

Evo Morales, Bolivia's first indigenous Aymara Indian president, announced last year he will make efforts to support the peoples of the Andes who have been using coca leaves for traditional use such as medication and rituals for thousands of years. 30,000 acres (120 km2) of the Andes region is set aside for coca bush growth annually. This area is set to increase to 80,000 acres (320 km2) with the increase of the government's drive for legitimate use for the coca plant, such as toothpaste, pharmaceuticals and coca tea.
