Milo (drink)

imageMilo

Milo /ˈmaɪloʊ/ is a chocolate and malt powder that is mixed with hot or cold water or milk to produce a beverage popular in many parts of the world. Produced by Nestlé, Milo was originally developed in Australia in 1934. It is marketed and sold in many countries.

Most commonly sold as a powder in a green tin, often depicting various sporting activities, Milo is available as a premixed beverage in some countries, and has been subsequently developed into a snack bar and breakfast cereal. Its composition and taste differ in some countries.

In 1934, Australian industrial chemist and inventor Thomas Mayne developed Milo and launched it at the Sydney Royal Easter Show. Milo began production at the plant located in Smithtown, near Kempsey on the North Coast of New South Wales. The name was derived from the famous ancient athlete Milo of Croton, after his legendary strength.

Milo is manufactured by evaporating the water content from a thick syrup at reduced pressure. The thick opaque syrup is obtained from malted wheat or barley. The whole process takes around an hour but operates in a continuous mode. At the bottom of the box the varying sized chunks of soft solid, from fist size to fine powder, fall from the last conveyor into an airlock where they are brought back to atmospheric pressure. The solid is introduced into a hammer mill where it is broken up into the final granular form. The hygroscopic granular powder is packaged by filling cans from the "bottom", because the "top" end has been previously fabricated with an aluminium foil seal beneath the lid. The cans then have the tinplate bottoms affixed by a roll seam and the paper label is applied to complete the product. Some other chocolate drink bases, such as Ovaltine, are made by similar processes.

Mother (drink)

imageMother

Mother is an energy drink marketed to Australians and New Zealanders by Monster Beverage Corporation. Introduced in late 2006 after Coca-Cola's failed attempt to purchase Red Bull, it competes with the two leading energy drinks on the market, V and Red Bull, in the $151 million industry.

In Europe the energy drink Relentless, also sold by Monster, is identical in taste to Mother but has a different colour.

The original formulation contained 106 mg of caffeine, 33 g of sugar, fruit of the Açaí Palm, 68% apple juice, 5% lemon juice, carbonated water, fructose and malt extract and trace quantities of guarana and ginseng, per 250 mL can.

Coca-Cola announced the reformulation and relaunch of Mother in June 2008 after 18 months on the market announcing the new product will be made available from July 1. Changes announced include a new taste ("extensively researched with consumers"), a larger 500 ml can, and a change of packaging colour from aluminium to black and red, the colour of the drink from yellow to green, along with a A$3 million marketing campaign. The primary focus of both the campaign and the new packaging is the reformulated taste of the drink, proclaimed on the packaging as 'New - tastes nothing like the old one!'.

Since then Coca-Cola has launched a 4x500mL Mother take-home pack. Mother Surge was launched in July 2009, an orange flavoured variation with 5% juice and the same mix of Taurine, Caffeine and Guarana. Mother was launched into a 355mL glass bottle in August 2009. And most recently a 'Mother of a mixer' 250mL can was launched for bars/clubs in October 2009 followed by convenience stores in April 2010. In 2010 330ml Cans are stocked in some vending machines alongside other Coke Brands. In May 2010, a 150mL variety, 'Mother Big Shot' was released, containing "double guarana and taurine... vs Mother regular per 100mL" according to the can. From November 2010, Mother released both a Low Carb and Lemon Bite variety of the drink. In July 2012, a sugarfree version was released (with a silver can instead of the black).

Multibrands International

imageMultibrands International Ltd.

Multibrands International is a multinational Fast-Moving Consumer Goods company with headquarters in Bradford (United Kingdom), Pune (India) and Suzhou (China). It was founded in 1998 by Imran and Rizwana Hussain in Bradford and it is known for manufacturing Home Care products, Personal Care products and Beverages and high performance LED bulbs.

The company currently exports its products in more than 100 countries, thus covering extended areas of EU, the Middle East, Asia, USA, and the Southern Hemisphere.

1990–2001 In 1998, Multibrands is incorporated as a wholesale supply business trading in locally sourced global brands. In 1999, Multibrands sources the first container of grey market brands from Asia. Within the same year, it launches its first home product - EasyLite and Spark lighters. In 2000, Multibrands opens up imports from India and the Middle East. One year later, it opens trade links in the South American, African and Russian markets.

2002–2012 By importing branded goods on the grey market, Multibrands purchases the products at the best price and then redistributes them at more competitive prices in the United Kingdom. By 2002, Multibrands is declared the largest parallel goods trader in the UK. In 2003, PZ Cussons objects to this practice of parallel trading and takes court action against Multibrands to stop them from importing and selling the Cussons brand of Imperial Leather soap at cheaper prices. Cussons wins the case and this way seizes 230,000 bars of soap from Multibrands premises. The ruling is later criticised by the consumers association who call for an end to the practice of price fixing by manufactures and suggest that EU markets should be opened up for fair and more competitive trade to end the Rip-Off Britain culture. Later in 2003, Multibrands faces up to the challenge of no longer being able to parallel trade and totally restructures the company, developing its own brand of FMCG products.

NOS (drink)

imageNOS High Performance Energy Drink

NOS Energy Drink is an energy drink sold in 16 and 24oz cans. The drink was also once distributed in a bottle designed to look like a NOS (Nitrous Oxide Systems) cartridge. This was discontinued in 2015. Formerly a property of The Coca-Cola Company, it is currently produced by Monster Beverage and licensed by Holley Performance, which owns the trademark. NOS contains high levels of taurine and caffeine, and it also contains guarana. NOS Energy is currently available in Original, Sugar Free, Charged Citrus, Cherried Out, GT Grape, and Rowdy.

In February 2005, the Fuze Beverage company launched the beverage. The name "NOS" was licensed from Holley Performance Products, which manufactures the Nitrous Oxide Systems (NOS) brand of automotive nitrous injection systems. According to Holley, NOS is the first automotive product to have a consumable food product share its name and logo. In February 2007, Fuze was purchased by The Coca-Cola Company, which transferred the NOS licence to Coca-Cola. On June 12, 2012, Coca-Cola announced the transfer of its energy division, including NOS and Full Throttle, to Monster Beverage.

NOS has been involved in various forms of motorsports as its main source of advertising. Team NOS currently consists of NASCAR driver Kyle Busch, Formula Drift driver Chris Forsberg, and rally car racer Brian Deegan. Busch became a NOS Energy driver back in 2008 when he first joined Joe Gibbs Racing. He has raced the No. 18 NOS Energy Toyota Camry to victory lane a record number of times in the Xfinity Series, where he is the all-time leader in race wins, initially from 2008 until 2011, when he switched to then-rival Monster Energy in 2012, around the same time NOS parent Coca-Cola was exploring a sale of its energy drink brands. Following Monster's acquisition of Coca-Cola's energy beverage products, and a corporate decision to realign the Busch Brothers, both of whom are affiliated with Monster Beverage, Kyle was aligned with NOS Energy in 2016. The partnership between Busch and NOS Energy has grown to be the largest in the brand's history. In the fall of 2016, Monster Beverage released its newest flavor "NOS Rowdy" which was inspired by Busch and his nickname "Rowdy".

Oronamin

Oronamin C Drink (オロナミンCドリンク Oronamin Shī Dorinku?), produced by Otsuka Chemical Holdings Co., Ltd., (distributed and sold by Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co.) is a carbonated beverage available in Japan. It is commonly called Oronamin C or Oronamin. Its name is similar to the Takeda Pharmaceutical Co. product "Arinamin" and its name comes from Otsuka's own Oronine H Ointment (オロナインH軟膏?) and its main ingredient, vitamin C. Oronamin C was named after the Oronine H Ointment in hopes that it would prove to be equally successful.

Oronamin C was introduced in February 1965 and was initially sold in a 120 ml glass bottle sealed with a bottle cap. It contains isoleucine and many other essential amino acids as well as many vitamins such as vitamin B2, vitamin B6 and vitamin C. It is not only available in supermarkets and convenience stores in Japan, but also in Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co. vending machines as well. The bottle cap was briefly replaced with a screw bottle cap, but following a nationwide scare during the 1980s regarding a large number of poisoned sealed bottled beverages, this screw cap was replaced with a one-time "pull-cap," which cannot be re-sealed after opening. Child welfare activist Osamu Mizutani (æ°´è°· ä¿® Mizutani Osamu, born May 8, 1956) wrote that the previous screw caps allowed individuals to put in paint thinner and then re-seal the bottles.

Pimp Juice (drink)

imagePimp Juice

Pimp Juice is the brand name of the non-carbonated energy drink inspired by the Nelly song "Pimp Juice". Nelly also co-owns the drink. Produced by Fillmore Street Brewery, in St. Louis, Missouri USA, Pimp Juice is marketed as "Hip-Hop's #1 Energy Drink."

Pimp Juice was one of the first celebrity driven energy drinks on the market, and an example of hip hop and pop stars using their appeal to younger audiences to market and sell non-music related products.

The drink contains 100% of the recommended daily intake of vitamin C, B2, B3, B5, B6, and B12 as well as 7mg of taurine. The drink is intended to taste like apples and berries, and is commonly used as mixer in alcoholic drinks such as vodka and rum. Two follow-up drinks have been released, PJ Tight (a low-carb variant) and PJ Purple Label (flavoured with grape and prickly pear).

When released, Pimp Juice was a source of controversy after a number of community groups called for a national boycott of the product for glorifying and promoting a negative stereotype of African American lifestyle.

Pimp Juice is still sold online from an Australian site but consumers outside Australia are asked to send email and ask about availability.
