Cocaine (drink)

imageCocaine

Cocaine is a highly caffeinated energy drink distributed by Redux Beverages. It contains more caffeine than rival energy drinks Red Bull and Rockstar, symbolized by three and a half steer heads on the label. Aside from caffeine, the label claims 750 milligrams of taurine, another common ingredient found in many energy drinks.

Cocaine was pulled from U.S. shelves as a result of the FDA's decision that Cocaine "was illegally marketing the drink as both a street drug alternative and a dietary supplement". Redux Beverages began working on a new name for the product immediately. At the end of May, 2007, the Redux team decided to change the name to "No Name:" energy drink, with the new can label. On 17 June 2007, the drink was redistributed in the U.S. under the new labeling.

The drink is available online and in local beverage stores around the U.S. The beverage is also available in Europe, where it has always been sold as Cocaine Energy Drink rather than "No Name" (as it was briefly sold in the U.S). According to Cocaine's official website, the drink is now being sold in three varieties: one being Original, one being "Cut" (which lacks the purported "throat-burning" sensation of Original), and one being "Free", which contains no sugar.

The ingredients are as follows: Carbonated Water, Dextrose, Citric Acid, Taurine, Caffeine, Natural Flavors, Sodium Citrate, D-Ribose, Salt, Sodium Benzoate, Inositol, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Sucralose, L-Carnitine, Potassium Sorbate, Guarana Seed Extract, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), Cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12) and Red 40.

Cola Cao

imageCola Cao

Cola Cao is a high-energy chocolate drink with vitamins and minerals that originated in Spain but is now marketed in several countries. It is produced by the Barcelona-based company Idilia Foods (formerly Nutrexpa).

Cola Cao comes in powder form and is intended to be mixed with milk, but can also be mixed with water or soya milk. It can also be added to breakfast cereal or used as a baking ingredient.

In Spain in particular, Cola Cao is a popular accompaniment to breakfast, lunch or dinner. Children often dunk María biscuits in their Cola Cao milk. In recent decades, almost all cafes have taken to offering it in single-serving sachets as an alternative to coffee. Cola Cao is much thicker than the hot chocolate drinks found in many other countries, but not nearly as thick as traditional Spanish-style drinking-chocolate. It does not dissolve quickly and is often served with a tea spoon. Competing brands like Nesquik have promoted their own quick solubility. Currently Cola Cao is sold in the "classic" version for those who have grown fond of eating the undissolved lumps and as "Cola Cao Turbo" for those who want a homogeneous liquid.

The "Cola Cao song" used to promote the product in the 1940s is a nostalgia item. Its first verses are still remembered: "Yo soy aquel negrito del África Tropical / que cultivando cantaba la canción del Cola Cao /..." ("I am that little black guy from Tropical Africa / who sang the Cola Cao song while cultivating"). Cola Cao has been marketed in association with the Olympic Games and other sporting events.

Cola Cao is sold in containers of many different sizes. The most common are plastic tubs holding 400 grams, and single-serving sachets.

Cola Cao is exported to various countries such as Spain, Portugal, Chile, Bosnia and Herzegovina and China (known as 高乐高 Gao-le-Gao), where Nutrexpa offices are located. It was introduced to Japan (under the name ) in early 1990s only to be discontinued a few years later, however in 2007 "Cola cao Chocolate Roll Cakes" manufactured in China are sold at dollar stores.

DrinkQT

imageDrinkQT

Hayden Dunham (born 1988) is an American performance artist known for her musical project QT, an initialism for Quinn Thomas. QT is a pop singer portrayed by Dunham who promotes and is the living embodiment of the semi-fictitious DrinkQT energy drink. Her debut single "Hey QT", produced by A. G. Cook and Sophie, was released in 2014.

Dunham grew up in Austin, Texas and attended the Gallatin School of Individualized Study at NYU. Before the QT project, Dunham had done work as a designer and artist. She met British producer Sophie after the two had seen each other at various events. She found Cook, head of the PC Music record label, through his work online. Dunham originally wanted to do a song as a way to market a QT energy drink, and she asked the producers to repeat the name regularly.

QT is, in effect, a virtual character. The concept drew comparisons to the 2002 science fiction film Simone and the virtual Japanese pop star Hatsune Miku. The project includes DrinkQT, an "energy elixir" with a design by Kim Laughton. The music and drink are intended to be two manifestations of the same product. Both have been described as "fizzy" and "energetic", with Dunham stating that she wanted "to be able to talk about 'Hey QT' and have DrinkQT talk about 'Hey QT' and 'Hey QT' talk about DrinkQT." The drink has been distributed at performances, and in May 2015 DrinkQT was made available for pre-order. Journalist Sasha Geffen described it as tasting "like Red Bull, only a little more tart." Distributing the drink was a source of friction with the Red Bull Music Academy's sponsorship of a PC Music show.

On August 26, 2014, QT released her debut single "Hey QT" via XL Recordings. The single's release was accompanied by a photo of QT with a blonde wig trimmed into a messy bob cut. The promotional image was made by Diamond Wright, a team that includes PC Music musician Hannah Diamond.

Cult Shaker

imageCult Scandinavia ApS

Cult Shaker, a product of CULT A/S, is a flavored alcohol beverage containing Guarana and cider (5.4% ABV). Unlike most "energy-mix" drinks the Cult Shaker is not mixed with vodka. This is because hard liquor is taxed higher in Denmark, where it is produced, than the hard cider actually used. However, the taste is comparable to the standard vodka mixes. It was launched in Denmark in 2003 and is currently available in Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Iceland and Hong Kong. Cult Shaker was one of the first products to combine energy drinks with alcohol in a pre-mixed format.

imageJordan

Jordan Grand Prix was an Irish Formula One constructor that competed from 1991 to 2005. The team is named after Irish businessman and founder Eddie Jordan. Jordan and his team were well known for a "rock and roll" attitude which added colour and character to Formula One in the 1990s.

In early 2005, the team was sold to Midland Group, who competed for one final season as 'Jordan', before renaming the team as MF1 Racing for the 2006 season, before being sold later in 2006 to Dutch car manufacturer Spyker to become Spyker F1 for 2007, and then sold again to become Force India in 2008.

Eddie Jordan had a brief stint as a race driver in the late 1970s before founding Eddie Jordan Racing in the early 1980s. The team first came to prominence in British Formula Three with a duel between one-time Jordan test driver Ayrton Senna and Jordan-Ralt driver Martin Brundle, edged out by the Brazilian at the last round of the championship. The team graduated to International Formula 3000 for 1988, winning its first race in the category with Johnny Herbert. In 1989, Jordan won the F3000 drivers' championship with future Formula One star Jean Alesi. The team also ran future F1 drivers such as Martin Donnelly and Eddie Irvine in F3000.
